The Landmark’s 1873 Wing might be used to presenting talented performers and hosting special events, but now we have welcomed a star of our own with the arrival of Events Planner Vikki Boyd.

Vikki, a local lass and Burnley season ticket holder who has teenage boys Declan and Thomas, joins an ever-growing events team here at The Landmark following the opening of our newly renovated 1873 wing, set in the Grade II listed former Burnley Grammar School.

An extremely happy, friendly and bubbly character, we couldn’t think of anyone better to spearhead our events team, whether it’s weddings, live music, comedy nights or birthday parties. You name it, Vikki will be there to help create an event to remember here in Burnley.

And it’s Burnley which has a special place in Vikki’s heart.

Vikki, who was born in Brierfield and lived in Burnley, went to Primary School in the town, spending her early years in education at Sunnybank Primary School on Manchester Road, before heading to Westholme Secondary School in Blackburn.

Vikki attended Accrington & Rossendale College, then her journey into events began.

Heading back home to Brierfield, she became a partner in Sandersons Dance and Fitness Centre, as well as being a dance and fitness instructor. During her time there, Vikki ran a number of events including big competitions in the UK and abroad, as well as dancing-themed holidays.

Making many friends along the way, some of which will be looking to get married in the next few years (hint, hint… 😉), it was time for pastures new after 20 extremely enjoyable years at Sandersons.

Vikki went on to spend eight years working in a school in Oldham, as office manager, but her love for managing events was not to be brushed aside.

She said: “Organising events, the end-to-end thing, is what I really love doing.

“When I worked at the school, I worked on charity balls, charity fashion shows and got involved with the events side including children’s dancing at lunchtime. I’ve also arranged charity events and gala dinners for charities outside school!”

Special events organised by an extraordinary lady. You won’t be surprised to hear that events, performing and the arts runs in Vikki’s family, with son Declan a big lover of theatre whilst studying Classics at Cambridge University, with younger son Thomas, a former British Champion dancer, in Classical & Modern (Ballroom) Sequence.

Fast forward to 2022 and Vikki, determined in her goals to “achieve something and make a real difference,” has already fitted in seamlessly to her role here at The Landmark.

Her love of live music and gigs, as well as meeting people and learning their stories, has seen the introduction of ‘Friday Live Music’ in The Lounge, which has seen extremely talented, local performers sing between 4pm-6pm, with Happy Hour taking place from 3pm-5pm.

With more exciting events set to take place over the next few months (keep your 👀 peeled for those), and The Landmark taking bookings for all occasions in both 2022 and 2023, including weddings, birthday parties, christenings, family celebrations and much more, you could be meeting our very own Vikki for yourself in the very near future.
